Sensational Iris

Hi Everyone,

Here's the iris photo that I love.  I am a fan of the color purple and how the purple outlines this white iris is absolutely stunning.  I found these irises on a street corner in Boulder, CO and so I stopped to take a few shots.  This is my favorite.

Next week, I'd like to post a picture of a poppy.  I have 2 of them that I like a lot but they look very different.  I'll post both of them and then you can comment and tell me which one you like the most.

Tonight I am going to be a part of a reception at the DARKROOM in Longmont, CO.  My photo of a yellow calla lily was juried into their Architecture.Structure.Form exhibition show.  I am very excited to be a part of this show as there were many entries and only 55 were juried into the show.  Next week, I'll let you know how the reception went.

Have a GREAT weekend...Diane

As well as being the scientific name, iris is also very widely used as a common name for all Iris species, as well as some belonging to other closely related genera. Irises are perennial plants, growing from creeping rhizomes or, in drier climates, from bulbs (bulbous iris). The cluster of flowers on a stem are in the shape of a fan and contain one or more symmetrical six-lobed flowers.
